Awards for projects include:
Royal Town Planning Institute East Midlands Branch Award 1998
For Planning Achievement in the area of Environmental Education for the Erewash Ponds Projects. A multi-agency project funded by the Borough Council aimed at creating new ponds . Working in partnership with Groundwork Erewash Valley this successful project led to the creation of 11 new ponds at schools and on private land.
Royal Town Planning Institute East Midlands Planning Award 1996
For working on the Erewash Canal Initiative. Joint winner in the Environmental Improvements Category.
A multi-agency project embracing Erewash Borough Council, the Countryside Commission, British Waterways, Groundwork Erewash valley, East Midlands Development Agency and Sustrans. This project led to can improvements along the Erewash Canal fro Trentlock to Ilkeston including widening the towing path to create a cyclepath, derelict land reclamation, nature conservation schemes, tree planting, improved access for disabled people, picnic sites, interpretation panels, local nature reserve designation, improved seating and the installation of access controls to prevent motorbike access.
